The Education Directorate focuses on formulating and implementing educational policies within the framework of national policies and guidelines.

The department also advises the Assembly on matters relating to pre-school, primary, Junior High School, and Senior High School education in the district.

Core Function

The core function of the Directorate is to implement the mission of the Ghana Education Service and its curriculum, ensuring good quality education, access to education, and equitable distribution or provision of school infrastructure, by:

   Developing development plans to set the education development agenda for the district through needs assessment.

   Monitoring the trend of growth of education in terms of academic performance.

   Meeting the education needs of the district by collecting and analysing data on educational activities.

   Overseeing equitable distribution of teaching and non-teaching personnel in the district.

   Planning and implementing training programmes and workshops, such as INSETs.
6. 6
   Supervising teaching and learning in all schools through regular monitoring.
