Waste Management Services Procedures

The Waste Management Department (WMD) handles storage, collection, transportation, and safe disposal of waste across the district.

Liquid waste services

  1. a
    Call at the WMD in person, or contact any accredited private company, to book a date for dislodging.
  2. b
    Pay the appropriate fee as specified in the Assembly's Fee Fixing Resolution.
  3. c
    The officer in charge of liquid waste at the WMD ensures the service is delivered within five (5) working days.

Solid waste (door-to-door) services

  1. a
    Register with the Assembly's authorised Private Waste Collection Company operating in your area.
  2. b
    A collection timetable is made available to you upon registration.
  3. c
    You are responsible for providing an appropriate refuse container for storing your waste.
  4. d
    Pay a monthly fee to the Waste Collection Company, as specified in the Assembly's Fee Fixing Resolution.

Disposal of industrial / commercial waste

  1. a
    Apply in writing to the District Chief Executive, copying the Director of WMD, with the following details:
    • Type of waste material
    • Location of the waste material
    • Tonnage / quantity of the waste material
    • Frequency of dumping or generation
  2. b
    WMD officers are assigned to inspect the site and recommend the appropriate process for collecting, transporting, and disposing of the material.
  3. c
    A bill is prepared based on the type and tonnage/quantity of waste, and the distance to the final disposal site.
  4. d
    Evacuation to the final disposal site begins five (5) working days after submission, subject to payment of the approved fee.
