National Immunization Days On Covid-19


As part of this year’s National Immunization Days on Covid-19 vaccination, orientation on the entire vaccination campaign was organized at the district level to brief and equip all CHNS. The health workers were thus taken through the new updates on Covid-19 vaccination by Disease Control Unit. The Health Promotion Unit took the staff through approaches to be used for this National campaign messages, as well as various communication tools and channels to be adapted for the nationwide campaign as well as Mpohor district. People ,individuals and groups who have interest in issues with regarding to Covid-19 pandemic were fully informed about the incoming Nation Immunization Days For Covid-19.They were informed to come on board to aid in spearheading messages and information with regards to Covid-19,adhering to safety precautions as well the need to get vaccination.

Letters were thus written and sent to stakeholders such as the District Assembly, religious bodies, opinion leaders, traditional council, Security Services, Ghana Education Service, NCCE, GPRTU and etc Letters were also sent to members of the risk communication team in the district. The risk communication team in the district is a well-established team to respond to immediate health related issues in the district. The District Disease Control Officer, Mr Charles Bonney Ghartey, on behalf of the District Director of Health Service for Mpohor gave the welcoming address and did introduction per the dignitaries invited, and further introduced the chairman for the event. He gave a deep on speech on the purpose of the gathering (NIDs) and updated the invited quest and people present at the launch about the current vaccination trends and as well as new updates with regards to Covid-19 vaccination .He stressed emphatically on the need to further wear nose mask and keep observing all safety protocols of covid-19 disease even after vaccination.

As part of one of the main objectives in communication, individuals and the local people in all the district and sub district were sensitized on the need to get vaccinated, the importance of pregnant women getting vaccinated as well as getting a booster dose even if fully vaccinated as well adhering to safety protocols of Covid-19. Also, awareness creation, motivation of community members to participate in this National campaign on Covid -19 vaccination.
